Losing someone you love is difficult enough without worrying about finding the right words to say goodbye.
I’m John Middleton, an experienced Adelaide funeral celebrant, and my role is to listen, understand the person you’re remembering and help your family create a farewell that feels right.
We’ll talk about their life, the people they loved, their character, their humour and the memories that matter. Together, we’ll create a service that tells their story with warmth, sincerity and respect.
How I Help Your Family
You don’t need to know where to begin or have everything prepared before we meet. I’ll guide you through the ceremony arrangements and work closely with your funeral director.
My funeral celebrant service includes:
- A personal meeting to hear your family’s memories and wishes
- Writing and delivering your loved one’s life story
- Help with eulogies, readings, poems and music
- Support for family members who wish to speak
- Planning the order and timing of the service
- Coordination with your funeral director and venue
- A carefully prepared and professionally delivered farewell
Every service is written specifically for the person being remembered. There are no generic scripts.
Funerals, Memorials & Celebrations of Life
I conduct funeral services, memorials and celebrations of life throughout Adelaide and South Australia, including chapel services, graveside farewells, private family gatherings and services followed by burial.
Your farewell can be traditional, contemporary, religious, spiritual or entirely non-religious.
There may be tears, laughter, music, treasured memories and quiet moments of reflection. What matters is that the service genuinely reflects the person you knew and loved.

With over 40 years in professional events and broadcasting, I’m comfortable speaking to a room, supporting people through emotional moments and ensuring a service runs smoothly.
But being a funeral celebrant is about much more than speaking well.
It’s about listening carefully, understanding a family’s wishes and finding the right words to honour someone’s life.
