Legal Requirements for Elopements in Australia

An elopement has the same legal requirements as any other Australian wedding.

You’ll need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month before your ceremony, unless an authorised shortening of time is granted.

You’ll also need appropriate identification, two witnesses aged 18 or over, an authorised marriage celebrant and the required legal vows and declarations.

I’ll guide you through the paperwork and register your marriage following the ceremony.
